Coleridge’s epic poem bursts into new life with a brand new surround sound production by Steve Marshall. This ultra-immersive experience places the listener onboard the Mariner’s creaking ship, surrounded by the ocean and elements. From all around, and above, come the eery sounds of ghosts, angels, zombies, St. Elmo’s Fire – and the doomed albatross.

The Ancient Mariner is voiced by well-known actor and writer Shaun Prendergast, whose Geordie accent brings a gritty authenticity to this tragic tale.

Steve Marshall was a film composer for many years, working for a time in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. In 2018 he thrilled Red Brick audiences with his surround sound piece Bilocation – so popular it was presented twice. Steve is the author of several books, including the acclaimed Exploring Avebury: The Essential Guide.
