An evening of immersive 3D soundscapes and music
Including another chance to experience Coleridge’s epic poem ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’ in spectacular surround sound!
Sound artist Steve Marshall returns to the Red Brick Building to preview some of his recent soundscapes and musical works in progress, all in glorious three-dimensional surround sound!
Steve will be presenting tracks from his current Spirit of Place project: music inspired by St Nectan’s Glen, Calanais, Avebury and other special places.
There will be a 15 minute interval, followed by another opportunity to hear The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Steve’s rendering of Coleridge’s epic poem as an immersive surround sound experience. This ultra-immersive experience places the listener onboard the Mariner’s creaking ship, surrounded by the ocean and elements. From all around, and above, come the eery sounds of ghosts, angels, zombies, St. Elmo’s Fire – and the doomed albatross. Last year’s performance of this at the Red Brick Building sold out quickly, so be sure to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.
