Saturday Schedule:

9am – 11am: Bellyfusion Foundations with Rachael Redfern
This is a workshop to cover all the Bellyfusion basics, with added motifs and layering. This workshop is suitable for those with any bellydance experience and who want an introduction to the foundations of fusion that makes Bellyfusion so unique. Also for those to brush up on their fusion technique. Open level.

11am – 1pm: Flamenco Taster – Garrotin with Fulya
An introduction to Flamenco via the palo of Garrotin, which is in the 4/4 time signature – which makes it a good place for beginners in flamenco dance to start. This palo is unusual as it is not from Andalusia; the home of flamenco in the south. It originated in Asturias in Northern Spain.

1pm – 2pm: Lunch

2pm – 4pm: Jacqui’s Y’Baladi with Jacqui Jamal
Call me a country girl but don’t you just love that deep soulful expression of love and longing transforming into sheer joy for people and party – Allegria! Develop the technique and understanding to move your audience – from tears to joy – the stuff of life in the hands of a woman who knows. See you there!

4pm – 6pm: Persian Classical Dance with Charareh Pourzand
This workshop will introduce you to the delicate art of using Persian Poetry in movement. In the first hour we will introduce some classical Persian move techniques and in the second hour you will learn a Persian Classical Dance based on romantic love lyrics. All levels welcome.

6pm – 7pm: Dance to Live Music with Oona La Luna
With special guests from Bubamara, we will explore responding to live music, with rhythms from the darabouka drum, and melody instruments such as the oud and mandolin. With traditional tunes from the Middle East, such as Miserlou, Kahramana and Bint Al Shalabiya.

7pm – 12 Midnight: ‘LA LUNA’ Oriental Bellydance Show
With live band Bubamara and special guests. Performances from top dancers and musicians from the South West, London, Swansea, Leicester, and the Middle East. There will be solo and group performances, followed by a set by Bubamara for everyone to dance to!
**If you wish to perform, please message Oona La Luna on Facebook. There is a special discounted performer ticket of £15 on the ticket link, and there is a discount for troupe bookings (please message Oona for more details).**

Sunday Schedule:

9am – 11am: Feather Fans Burlesque with Fulya
‘Night Train’ is a typical Burlesque Jazz Standard Big Band track from the 1950’s. Learn a conceal and reveal choreography with ostrich feather fans. No nudity or stripping involved; just voluptuous movement and fabulous fans! No need to own a pair of fans as they are provided, but if you have your own do bring them along. Please wear clothes that give you free range of motion – a Basque is fine but a steel boned corset will be too restrictive. A medium high heel can be worn if desired.

11am – 1pm: Vintage Fusion with Rachael Redfern
Learn beautiful vintage Fusion, inspired by the femme fatales of the silent movie era, such as Theda Bara, and Louise Brooks. Echoes of ‘Maria’, the heroine from ‘Metropolis’. This workshop will bring out The Vamp in you! Rachael will build on moves and put them into a beautiful and alluring vintage fusion choreography.

1pm – 2pm: Lunch

2pm – 4pm: Queens of Belly Dance, Signature Moves from the Last 100 years! with Arabella
This workshop melts the moves of iconic dancers into bitesize steps, style & combinations. Starting with Badia Masabni in the 1900’s Cairo, we’ll go on a journey to explore the origins of the dance in Cairo today. We’ll pop over to Paris and Josephine Baker in the 1920s & 30s and back to Egypt’s Samia Gamal 1940s & 50s, Nagwa Fouad 1960s & 70s, Fifi Abdou 1970s onwards and Dina today’s reigning Queen of Cairo hearts! This workshop is a delicious selection box of signature moves for you to take away and weave into your own dance or teaching, or to simply enjoy on the day. Open level.

4pm – 6pm: Precious Props: The Belly Dancer’s Treasure Pack (Goddess Pathworking) with Guinevere
Using veil, candles and Saiidi cane, learn 3 unique, stylised Belly Dancer’s Treasure Pack sequences, tailored to prop work, with Treasure Pack creator Guinevere. Inspired by your card choices, you will then devise your own dance sequence working with your chosen prop, individually and in pairs. The session concludes with an exciting finale group piece, including everyone’s new moves. Get ready for flowing creativity, precious prop connection, new performance skills, and fun partner work. (Candle jars, candles, canes and veils are provided if needed. Do also bring any other of your precious props, such as swords, wings or trays if you’d like to work with them). Open level.
