Share:People of all genders aged 16-30 are invited to a free, interactive creative writing workshop exploring the future of gender equality and activism. Held within an exhibition of striking feminist posters, the workshop will take inspiration from a century of women-led campaigns for gender equality from Votes for Women to Equal Pay and #metoo.
Experimenting with DIY counter-cultural methods such as cut-up poetry, adaptation and collage we will explore a range of topics including gender stereotyping, sexual harassment, LGBT+ activism and the issues that matter to you.
The workshop will create opportunities to:

Experiment with new creative writing techniques in a non-judgmental environment
Publish your work on the Feminist Archive South project website and have it displayed in a regional touring exhibition (optional)
Enrich the study of English Literature and Language at A-Level or degree level and build your knowledge of feminist theory, textual analysis and adaptation
‘Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.’ Audre Lorde, ‘Poetry is not a Luxury’.
After the workshop there will be a launch for the exhibition with free food, refreshments, discussions and a badge, zine and poster making workshop open to everyone.
